And we thought winter was our slow season as an outdoor venue, but so many proved this to be untrue. After a Big birthday celebration/oyster roast early in December (when the most unbelievable double shooting star lit up the sky!), we followed up with eloping couples, birthday parties, and weekends packed with tours for the upcoming season. We are gearing up for what is proving to be a busy year and looking forward to each and every unique event!
This was a season full of birthday celebrations, photography mini-sessions, a Harvest Dinner, and a 10 year Vow Renewal Ceremony and Reception!
This summer we have been very busy enhancing our already beautiful grounds! We've added a 55 foot waterscape with gardens surrounding complete with stone benches and walking paths. All the boulders used are Song Hill's very own! A new lawn has been added to be used as an option for ceremonies and will be ready for Spring '12! The columns of The Pavilion are getting faced with beautiful fieldstone, and many new flowers and bushes have been added to our landscapes! Breezeway has also gotten a fresh coat of paint, a new stone walkway, and river rock path around the west side.
The Song Hill Reserve staff held their first Open House! This was an evening open to the public for vendors, friends, family and those just curious as to what we have to offer. Old friends gathered and new friends met for the first time. As the adults socialized, children enjoyed fishing, exploring, and snow cones!
What a gorgeous Fall day for a wedding! The Kellers said their vows at a location sacred to them and held their reception at The Pavilion that afternoon/evening. Complete with a beautifully catered meal by Giardini's, a four piece band, dancing and of course, hula-hooping!! The bride was stunning and their guests enjoyed dinner, dancing and a celebration of the newlyweds.
Polk County High School's Class of 2000 celebrated their ten year reunion at the Pavilion. Complete with BBQ, DJ and karaoke, a cornhole tournament and time to catch up with classmates.
In 2002 Elettra’s eldest granddaughter was engaged to be married with the date set for October 12th. Being the visionary and entertainer she was, The Pavilion was designed and constructed for this joyous occasion. Beginning as a basic covered shelter, it was expanded in 2010 upon her passing in 2009 by her son and two youngest grandchildren to encompass two restrooms, a bar, overhead lighting, 900 square foot deck, and a 17’ ceiling covering the 810 square foot concrete floor. The Pavilion underwent this new construction for the purpose of Elettra’s Celebration of Life in May of 2010 with her wish that all her close friends and family commenced while the azaleas, dogwoods and other Spring flowers were in full bloom.
Since then, The Pavilion has been the backdrop for several events, gatherings and celebrations. Many wonderful memories have been made and we welcome the opportunity to provide a beautiful setting where you too can make memories that will last a lifetime.
